A weighted mass explicit scheme for convection-diffusion equations
An explicit scheme based on a weighted mass matrix, for solving time-dependent convection-diffusion problems was recently proposed by the author and collaborators. Convenient bounds for the time step, in terms of both the method’s weights and the mesh step size, ensure its stability in space and time, for piecewise linear finite element discretisations in any space dimension. In this work we st...
متن کاملA monotone finite element scheme for convection-diffusion equations
A simple technique is given in this paper for the construction and analysis of a class of finite element discretizations for convection-diffusion problems in any spatial dimension by properly averaging the PDE coefficients on element edges. The resulting finite element stiffness matrix is an M -matrix under some mild assumption for the underlying (generally unstructured) finite element grids. A...
متن کاملParallel Alternating Group Explicit Iterative Method For Convection-Diffusion Equations
In this paper, based on an unconditionally stable finite difference implicit scheme, we present a concept of deriving a class of effective alternating group explicit iterative method(AGEI) for periodic boundary value problem of convection-diffusion equations, and then give two AGEI methods. The AGEI methods are verified to be convergent, and have the property of parallelism. Results of numerica...
متن کاملExplicit Finite Difference Method For Convection-Diffusion Equations
In this paper, we present an integral form of convection-diffusion equation. Then a class of alternating group explicit finite difference method (AGE) is constructed based on several asymmetric schemes. The AGE method is unconditionally stable and has the property of parallelism. Results of numerical examples show the AGE method is of high accuracy.
متن کاملFast explicit operator splitting method for convection-diffusion equations
Systems of convection–diffusion equations model a variety of physical phenomena which often occur in real life. Computing the solutions of these systems, especially in the convection dominated case, is an important and challenging problem that requires development of fast, reliable and accurate numerical methods. In this paper, we propose a second-order fast explicit operator splitting (FEOS) m...
